As men leave to look for jobs elsewhere, in Hattibangai village women are replacing husbands and sons on the farming field. At their side the National Wheat Program which provides them with improved rice seeds and training on the effects of climate change.
By picking up the slack in the agricultural sector, these women are now climbing the social ladder and their new-found awareness means more effectiveness in protecting the environment.
IPSTV correspondent Rajneesh Bhandari reports from Nepal.
